Prep for your remodel

We know you are anxious to get everything underway, and so are we. Before the construction phase begins, we want to educate you on what to expect. We also ask for your help in preparing your space for this next step in our process.

Here’s a guide for the adventure ahead!

🧽 Time to Clean.

Before the demolition can start, you must clear your household items out of your existing space. This task includes everything from the cabinets, closets, and tub to the shower area. It also involves any wall art or pictures in adjoining places. We want your valuables to stay safe. If you are having work done to your closet as well, choose the clothing items you will need during the remodel. Make sure to keep these items accessible. Put these items in a safe location for daily use. Store items you do not believe you will need away from the remodel area. This will prevent dust and debris from getting on your belongings. Remember that everything must be removed from the space.

👑 To Keep or Not to Keep.

Many clients find that while cleaning out their bathroom for the remodel, they can also purge items. They take the opportunity to get rid of unwanted items. This can be a silver lining during all of the mess and upheaval that a remodel can cause! Some individuals wish to donate to organizations, friends, or family. If we are aware, we can ensure that we give extra care to prevent damage as much as possible.

🛀🏻 Relocate to Second Bath!

Your bathroom will be out of commission for several months. It is important to think ahead and get set up in the bathroom that you will use in the interim. We suggest doing this at least a week ahead. This allows you time to adjust your routine. If your bedroom is being updated as well, sleeping in another room ahead of time may help in that transition. Any renovation can cause upset and frustration. However, planning ahead can ease some of that stress. It helps your family to continue to function.

✈️ Time to vacation.

The bathroom is one of the most used areas of the home. Your daily routine will be greatly impacted while it is under construction. Many people choose to take a vacation. Others stay with family during the main construction phase. This helps them eliminate the headache of trying to work around the mess and noise. Many of the chemicals used in these processes produce fumes that can be strong and may cause headaches. The contractor will diligently use fans and try to increase airflow in the space. However, it is best to give the area a day or two to cure before returning.

😯 Expect the Unexpected!

No matter how well plans are made, unexpected things will happen. There may be a structural issue that isn’t discovered until demo. Alternatively, you may decide to change an item along the way. Any changes that have to be addressed change the project timeline. These things will be discussed with your contractor as they arise, but please be prepared to adjust accordingly.

🛠️ Changes are Happening!

Changes are sometimes necessary. This may be due to something you want to add or take out of the project scope. It can also be because of an issue that has been discovered. When this occurs, it will be in writing and will need to be paid for in advance. This protects everyone involved in the project. It also prevents confusion or miscommunication in understanding exactly what needs to take place. Please remember we cannot order the product until it is paid for. Product delivery can change the timeline if there is a sizable wait.

⏳Hurry Up and Wait!

Some aspects of your project may take more time than others. This can occur either in the production and delivery of product. It can also happen during the installation.

Cabinets usually take approximately 8 weeks or more to manufacture. They must be ordered after structural changes are made. Final measurements can then be confirmed.

Counter tops can take 2-3 weeks or more to be ready from the time of template. The template is done after cabinetry has been installed.

Shower glass can’t be ordered until the shower has been installed. Sometimes products are delayed in manufacturing.

Some special order products take longer to process because they are made especially for your project.

During tile installations, products need to cure or dry for varying time periods. Only then can the contractor move on to the next phase. Because of this, some of the installation team may not be at your job site during the drying time. They want to be productive on other projects as well.

Please understand that these time frames are out of our control. We are equally anxious to see your project completed.
